Inspiration for our winter dances!

Grades K-2 will be exploring how snow moves and feels.
Is snow light? Does it float?

What shapes are in a snowflake?

Grades 3-5 will be looking at what we do in the snow to create dances.

Snow day anyone?!

We will also be looking at how other choreographers have used snow as inspiration for their dances. Check out this video of the American Ballet Theater performing "Snow" from The Nutcracker choreographed by Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Welcome

Welcome to the blog created to share what the new dance program is all about here at PS 176. As the new dance teacher, I am excited to get to show what the students have been working on in their dance classes. Through these posts, you'll have a insiders view of how students are creating and performing dances while learning how to collaborate and communicate about this exciting art form.

Feel free to check in anytime to get inspired. We'd love to hear from you! My email is MSchenk3@schools.nyc.gov
